Wade Belak’s passing has shocked and saddened the entire NHL community, and I’ve been reading some excellent articles from sportswriters around the world regarding this tragic event. He’s the third NHLer to pass in this offseason, and it has really put a spotlight on the possible effects of concussions and depression in the hockey world.
I’ve been reading some great articles about Wade and the effects of concussions from fellow writers, media members and the NHL that I wanted to post links to. The NHL community has gathered together on twitter as well to mourn the passing, many of which are with the Nashville Predators organization. You can read those tweets here.

Incredeibly sad and shocking news. The last person I thought of when reading that another former NHL’er has died.
My heart goes out to his wife Jennifer and their two little girls Andie and Alex. I pray that God gives them the strength to get through this.
Thanks for posting the links to the articles Stephanie.
You’re very welcome. I was shocked too, from everything I’ve heard and read, Wade was a happy go lucky guy. I second your prayers, I can’t imagine what his family is going through.
